Sail the Sporades Islands before the Meltemi arrives...
The timeless recipe of gin clear water and reliable wind is proving irresistible yet again in 2017 and the few yachts we have in the Sporades Islands are nearly fully booked! There are still a few yachts left in May so check availability below…
Why visit the Sporades in May?
If you have been keen to try sailing in the Sporades, but worried that the famous summer Meltemi might prove a little too much, May could be the perfect time to go. Visit the Mamma Mia church on Skopelos before the crowds descend and swim in the crystal clear waters at the National Marine Park.
As we can attest from our recent trips to film in the Sporades in May, at this time of year, the wind is more reminiscent of the light breezes common in the Ionian Islands. Don't believe us? Check out this video we filmed in May...

The highlights of sailing the Sporades
Sail from Skiathos Island and embrace the exclusivity of having bays (like the famous Koukounaries) to yourselves before the tourists descend. This time of year offers something really special to those who are able to escape for a week. From spring flowers to stunning sunsets after terrifically long days sailing (…or sunbathing if you prefer!).
With the stunning clarity of the water and the beautiful bays in the more remote islands that lie further east, a feature of this route is spending the occasional night cooking aboard, rather than dining ashore. These nights are spent anchored in uninhabited, sheltered bays, with just the twinkle of starlight above you. The only sound is of water lapping on the beach and the tinkle of bells from wandering goats! This is a most satisfying and relaxing way to enjoy these outer islands.
