Polace is found on the northern coast of the island of Mijet in a well-protected bay. It is the oldest village on the islands and is the largest and most sheltered harbour not only on Mijet but elsewhere too. It is surrounded by 4 islands and is a popular stop for lots of boats.
The area has a very rich Mediterranean fishing ground that attracts lots of local fisherman. It also has plenty of ancient ruins dating from the 1st to 6th centuries.
The sandy beach there is popular for swimming and other water sport activities. There is also a national park on the island which you can visit once obtaining a ticket from the kiosk in the town.
