Korčula Town is the main town on the island; a medieval walled city positioned on an oval shaped piece of land pointing into the channel.
Within the city walls you will find a maze of narrow streets, old buildings, monuments, walls, towers, cafes, restaurants, bars, hotels, galleries, and cinemas; certainly something for every taste.
If you find yourself in Korčula on a Thursday during the summer season you may come across locals performing a traditional sword dance called 'Moreska'; the dance depicts a mock battle over the fate of a veiled young woman. This would definitely be one for the photo album.
A fun fact; legend has it explorer Marco Polo was born in Korčula; this is somewhat of a sensitive subject between the Italians and Croatians.
Also, crews who are looking for a bit of creature comforts, there is an Adriatic Club International (ACI) Marina to the east of Korčula town.
